Welcome to the Mikka Bouzu Web Cartoon. Whether you’re a martial artist or not I hope you will enjoy it and tell others to navigate to it at some time. I’ve been a freelance cartoonist for years, freelance of course meaning ‘doesn’t earn enough money to avoid having a proper job’, but this is my first go at a multi frame cartoon or anything to do with web stuff. The aim at the moment is to post a new cartoon each week, but if lots of people say nice things I will update more often. Eventually I will add an FAQ section, but I’ll wait for there to be some questions.

I’ve been practicing martial arts off and on since I was 11 years old but for the last 15-ish years I’ve been studying Aikido with my brilliant and long suffering sensei, Simon Ford-Powell (thinking about it I’m sure I did most of the suffering). A big thanks must go to him and everyone else at the Leicester Aikidokan and Kanokwai Jiu-Jitsu for a lot of the inspiration behind these cartoons.

A special thank you to Steven and Shoko Reilly for their input. Steven for his training and Knowledge and Shoko for help with Japanese and the beautiful kanji on the left, (distinctly the less painful of the contributions). Thanks also to Kit Thomas, Dylan MacDonald, Quentin Ball and Dave Whiteland for their help and encouragement.

Lastly thanks to my wife for her years of encouragement to actually get around to doing something like this and my son for getting me back into judo after a very long time.

Please don't copy these cartoons without asking first. If you do I'll have to send the ninja round.
